Baking has always been a favorite pastime for owner, Sandy McPherson, but only to the extent of chocolate chip cookies and cupcakes. It wasn't until Sandy was in college that she realized taking courses in English, Latin and art were not a part of her destiny. Thankfully, with the support of her family and friends, Sandy made the decision to leave college and on a whim try a cooking course in the little seaside town of Shanagarry, Ireland at Ballymaloe Cookery School.

It was there that Sandy fell in love with the kitchen - everything from making soups, breaking down fish and chicken and creating beautiful tarts and desserts. After a memorable 3 months overseas Sandy returned home and decided baking was what she wanted to pursue. She gained experience on the Cape at a local bakery for a year before jetting off to California to attend the Baking and Pastry program at the Culinary Institute of America at Greystone in Napa Valley, California.

Since graduting from the CIA in 2008 Sandy gained experience in San Francisco, Los Angeles and even a little dude ranch in Colorado before realizing she missed the east coast and wanted to be back on Cape Cod.

Finally by 2016 Sandy felt that it was time for her dream bakery to become a reality and Washashore Bakery found its home in Mashpee Commons!
